Louis Kirby is a research neurologist who advises pharmaceutical companies in developing drugs for neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Throughout his life he has always been drawn to writing. While in medical school he published two of his stories – one landing him in hot water with the Dean of Medicine.
He attended the University of Texas in Austin for his undergraduate degree and went to medical school and residency at UT Medical Branch in Galveston, specializing in neurology. He then moved to Phoenix to join a medical practice.
He then founded Pivotal Research Centers, a research facility that specialized in human drug testing and grew Pivotal into one of the nation’s largest medical research centers of its kind. During this time, he served as principal investigator on nearly 400 clinical trials. He has given presentations at national and international conferences on drug development and consulted for the government and the pharmaceutical industry. He has published or co-authored over 25 scientific papers.
After selling Pivotal Research Centers to a publicly held company, he has served in various senior executive capacities for medical device, diagnostics and pharmaceutical firms. Dr. Kirby currently serves on the scientific advisory boards of several non-profit and for profit companies.
Louis enjoys the wide-open skies (and dry heat) of Phoenix with his amazing wife and daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, biking and photography. When he starts a new book, he throws himself into his research and has some interesting encounters, like the time he talked his way into the cockpit of a 747 as it flew over Greenland.
He has just completed his action-adventure/mystery trilogy: The Genesis Agenda Trilogy. These thrillers, written in the vein of Michael Crichton and Dan Brown, blend ancient history with cutting edge science in the style of Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Da Vinci Code. They explore timeless mysteries through the lens of modern science and geopolitics, weaving together, religion, greed, and ancient history into an international race against time.
